Autumn Academy MINTeraktiv

During the four-day holiday program, children learn about the material rubber in a playful way and discover its important role in our daily lives, especially in sports—and why it remains almost irreplaceable in many applications to this day.

In addition to age-appropriate experiments and practical activities, two special highlights await the children: During a visit to the company Schwalbe, they will learn about the production of bicycle tires, their repair, and sustainable reuse. This allows them to understand the entire journey of a product—from production to maintenance. Then it's off to the table tennis table! First, the children will examine various table tennis rubbers and discover how different rubber compositions affect spin, speed, and ball control. They can then test their theoretical knowledge during a joint table tennis training session and a small tournament at TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt.

The holiday program combines science, technology, and sports into a varied program that is fun, sparks curiosity, encourages participation, and provides a practical insight into the world of rubber as a material.

Autumn is just around the corner! In this colorful holiday activity, we will dive together into the fascinating world of autumn ambassadors in the form of seeds and fruits. Why do chestnuts have spiky shells? How does a seed manage to fly through the air or float on water? We will explore all this and much more in a playful way!

We will embark on an exploratory journey into nature together, collect fascinating fruits, and learn about their incredible tricks for spreading. Afterward, it’s time to get creative: with lots of imagination and colorful materials, we will craft our own fantasy fruits – they fly like helicopters, stick like burrs, or float like little boats.

Our trainees will guide you through the day and give you insights into the training for IT specialists and electronics technicians. You will go through several stations:

• Programming Fischertechnik models

• Exploring a logistics center using VR glasses (you will get hands-on experience)

• Wiring electrical circuits

At the Schaukowski Rope-Making Workshop, you can experience how ropes were made in the past. On the long ropewalk, the museum craftsman will show you how to work with comb equipment, lead wood, and strands. Together, you'll twist your own ropes, which are perfect for jumping and playing. Along the way, you'll learn fascinating facts about this old craft and get hands-on experience yourself.

The activity begins with a short exploration tour of the rope-making workshop, where you can visit additional buildings and see the mill hammer in action. Afterwards, you can relax and explore the museum's grounds and other historical houses and workshops.

The black soot on the building's ceiling gives it away: The forge in Lindlar-Linde breathes history! During the autumn holidays, our museum blacksmith will introduce you to the secrets of the glowing craft. Together with your child, you will experience the work at the forge up close and get hands-on.

This offer is aimed at parents with children – childcare during the blacksmithing must be provided by an accompanying adult. For multiple or sibling children, one parent as a companion is sufficient.

When registering, please select and specify one of the two time slots – 1:00 PM or 2:30 PM. Before and/or after the blacksmithing activity, the museum can be explored on your own. One parent has free admission. Additional companions pay the regular museum entrance fee. Sturdy footwear and cotton clothing are required for working at the forge.

The oldest cave painting in Europe is about 41,000 years old. Back then, Stone Age people did not know of a stationery store where they could simply go to buy a paint box, brushes, and paper. They used what they found in their surroundings!

We want to try this too and, like the cave people thousands of years ago, make our own paint and brushes and create our own cave paintings on stone.

How do shadows form and why do they become larger and smaller? Today we combine theater and science.

In the workshop, participants build their own escape games using the TillyBox mini. They develop their own puzzle stories with suitable puzzle and game elements such as hidden compartments and numerical codes, and program the box's reactions using MicroBlocks with block programming.

Participants work together in groups, going through all the steps from the idea to the finished, playable escape game. At the end of the day, the groups test each other's results: if all switches and buttons are operated in the correct order, the box's safe opens and the game is won.

Programming experience is not required.

In the course "3D Printing - First Steps," you will learn everything needed to successfully print your own objects. You will learn how a 3D printer is constructed and how it works, what filament actually is, and what challenges may arise on the way to your own printed object. Additionally, you will get started with CAD design and create your first design yourself.

This course is not about dry theory; you will get hands-on experience with our 3D printers, learning not only to understand but also to truly grasp the process.
