American foulbrood continues to spread American foulbrood in bees is spreading further in the northern district.
Oberbergischer Kreis. On 10.06.2026, the outbreak of "American foulbrood" was officially confirmed for the first time in a bee colony in Hückeswagen. Subsequent investigations in the surrounding area by the veterinary office of the Oberbergischer Kreis revealed several additional outbreaks. A total of five restricted zones were established around the affected bee colonies, and a series of investigations were conducted in nearby bee colonies. On 20.08.2026, the outbreak of American foulbrood was officially confirmed again. Due to the significant spread in the northern part of the Oberbergischer Kreis, the restricted zone will be expanded in a new general order to cover almost the entire area of the city of Radevormwald as well as directly adjacent areas of the cities of Hückeswagen and Wipperfürth. To account for all bee colonies located within the outbreak area, the new larger restricted zone encompasses the previously designated restricted zones.
