Fire Protection / General Hazard Prevention

The Fire Protection and General Hazard Prevention Department undertakes important tasks to protect the population in the Oberberg District. It supports fire departments, plans measures for various operational scenarios, and ensures that the required equipment is reliably operational.

The department's tasks include:

• Fire Protection Department: Inspection and assessment of preventive fire protection measures, particularly within the framework of construction and approval procedures.

• Hazard Prevention Planning: Development and further enhancement of operational and hazard prevention concepts for specific damage scenarios. A particular focus is on the operational concepts of fire departments in the Oberberg District.

• Command Staff: Preparation and coordination of measures for larger or extraordinary operational situations as well as support for operational leadership.

• Special Units: Organization and equipment of district-owned special units for specific hazards or tasks. These include units for Information and Communication, Psychosocial Emergency Care, decontamination units, measurement units, and units for the hazard prevention of dangerous substances and special components for firefighting such as forest or industrial fires.

• District Reserve Breathing Apparatus: Ensuring additional breathing apparatus and equipment for fire departments when there is an increased demand during prolonged or extensive operations.

• Workshop Center: Operation of the workshop center for the maintenance and inspection of fire hoses as well as for the servicing and maintenance of breathing apparatus in the Oberberg District.

Through these tasks, the department creates essential conditions for an efficient and well-prepared hazard prevention system. It strengthens the operational readiness of fire departments and supports municipalities in managing fires, technical assistance, and other special operational situations.
