Numerous seniors use the Digi-Café of the volunteer initiative Weitblick in Engelskirchen County seeks helpers to assist elderly people in handling digital devices

Oberberg district. The Digital-Café of the volunteer initiative of the Oberberg district at the Engelskirchen location has more than established itself as a meeting point for seniors. "At the last meeting, we were practically 'overrun' with around 80 interested citizens," says Weitblick guide Gitta Quercia-Naumann. "We urgently need helpers who, as volunteer digital guides, assist older people in using digital devices safely. Anyone who is very familiar with PCs, tablets, and mobile phones and can explain patiently and clearly is very welcome."

Individual Assistance Based on Knowledge Level

The Digital Café in the Old Cotton Warehouse at the Town Hall in Engelskirchen offers an open group meeting in a relaxed learning atmosphere with coffee and cake. The volunteer digital guides tailor their support to the individual knowledge levels and needs of the participants.
Among the numerous guests are many complete beginners, but also seniors who are already adept at using AI and rely on digital aids in everyday life: for example, via apps that assist with using public transportation or through social networks to stay in touch with their grandchildren.

Young volunteers are particularly encouraged to participate

For young people with experience in AI, this volunteer work can be especially enriching. The Weitblick volunteer initiative reimburses travel expenses and provides certificates for volunteer work if needed.
"We are a nice team that works in a very appreciative manner," says Weitblick guide Gitta Quercia-Naumann.
The Digi-Café of the Weitblick volunteer initiative of the Oberbergischer Kreis at the Engelskirchen location takes place on every third Wednesday of the month from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM in the Old Cotton Warehouse in Engelskirchen.
