School Psychological Counseling Center of Oberbergischer Kreis emphasizes its service offering Renaming of the "School Psychological Service" to February 1, 2026

Oberbergischer Kreis. The new name "School Psychological Counseling Center" with the addition „Support for Families and Schools“ says it all: The school psychological "service" of Oberbergischer Kreis has been renamed, making its services more visible. 

"Our support offering is broad. Not only do parents come to us with their questions and concerns, but schools are increasingly seeking professional support and using the expertise of the School Psychological Counseling Center to strengthen the entire school system,“ says Kai Ufer, the head of the Office for Schools and Education.

The work focuses on two areas:

• Individual support for students up to and including 6th grade (especially performance and behavioral issues);
   
• System consultation for all school principals, teachers, school social work professionals, and all other educational staff of all school types and grade levels in Oberbergischer Kreis (training and professional consultations, coaching, supervisions, as well as support in school crises).

Marianne Haupt, the head of the School Psychological Counseling Center, adds: „Our counseling always focuses on the individual circumstances of those seeking advice and is solution- and resource-oriented. All employees of the School Psychological Counseling Center are obligated to maintain strict confidentiality.“

The professional staff of the School Psychological Counseling Center are psychologists with qualifications in counseling, diagnostics, and promotion in the school-related field. The services of the School Psychological Counseling Center are free of charge. A referral is not required.
