Exhibition tour with artist Peter Leidig at Schloss Homburg Conclusion of the three-part exhibition series on the Oberberg art collection

Oberbergischer Kreis. Towards the end of the NETZwerk exhibition at Schloss Homburg, Peter Leidig, artist and former member and spokesperson of the Oberberg artist network pro solo, recalls an exciting time in the Oberberg art scene: during an exhibition tour on Thursday, February 19, 2026, starting at 4:30 PM.

Starting in the 1960s, artists in Oberberg came together to form a network to jointly create visibility for abstract art. Initially simply known as the „Oberberg Artists Association“, the group renamed itself „pro solo“ in 1979 and organized a multitude of joint exhibitions. Many of the artists organized in this network are represented with works in the Oberberg art collection, which was established in the mid-1980s to document and preserve artistic activity in the Oberberg district. Using the works of the group members, the NETZwerk exhibition highlights central themes of abstraction in art.

The exhibition can still be seen at Schloss Homburg until February 22, 2026, and is the final presentation of the three-part exhibition series “Curiosity” on the Oberberg art collection. Part I showcased the collection's new acquisitions publicly for the first time, and Part II focused on the stories that artworks can tell. Numerous accompanying events took place at the castle.

Steffen Müller, head of the cultural office, is pleased that the Oberberg art collection was illuminated in diverse ways through the exhibition series: “We were able to showcase very different artistic approaches and themes in these three very distinct exhibitions, thus also making the diversity of the regional art scene visible.” In parallel with the exhibitions, the museum team, in cooperation with the German Digital Library and the Cultural Foundation Oberberg of Kreissparkasse Köln, has made large parts of the Oberberg art collection permanently available digitally, so the collection can be discovered anytime and anywhere in the world. “We are very grateful to all participating artists and our cooperation partners for their support in this major project,” emphasized Müller.

During the concluding tour of the “NETZwerk” exhibition, Peter Leidig will officially donate an artwork by Hans Lambach, which is currently presented in the exhibition as a loan from his private collection, to the Oberberg art collection.

Admission to the tour is free, and registration is not required. Museum entry fees are to be paid on site.
