Sewing café for refugee women in Radevormwald needs new instructors Support for the refugee assistance project within the Weitblick volunteer initiative in Radevormwald

Oberbergischer Kreis. The Weitblick volunteer initiative of Oberbergischer Kreis remains active in refugee assistance in Radevormwald. The new Weitblick coordinator, Kerstin Scheibler, is currently advocating for the support of the sewing café. Since 2017, courses for refugee women from various countries have been regularly held there. "After such a long time, the project should be handed over to a new leader. We are therefore urgently looking for committed volunteers who are skilled in sewing and handling textiles," says Kerstin Scheibler.

The instructors are needed to teach basic sewing techniques on sewing machines and overlock machines. In the courses, participants repair and alter brought-in clothing items. Additionally, the focus is on recycling textiles, and participants learn to sew baby and children's clothing as well as utility items.
"The goal of the courses is not only to learn new techniques. Primarily, it's about integration through interaction with the instructors and each other, and about improving German language skills," says the Rade Weitblick coordinator.
