“Our times confront us with great challenges: climate changes, social tensions, and the protection of democratic core values. Young people today need more than ever guidance, action competence, and courage to actively and sustainably shape their future. This is exactly where ESD (Education for Sustainable Development) comes in,” says Birgit Steuer, head of the Oberberg Education Office. In the Oberberg district, there are already many different ESD offerings. In the new edition, regional stakeholders of the Oberberg Education Network present their offerings on the topic of ESD for daycare centers and schools. With concrete examples, interview partners also show how they make ESD tangible for children and young people in their institutions. In addition to the topic of “Education for Sustainable Development (ESD),” the current education magazine also provides a wealth of other information about interesting offerings from the Oberberg Education Network.
Oberberg Education Network
In the Oberberg Education Network, daycare centers and schools collaborate with the Oberberg district, municipalities, the state of NRW, associations, and regional educational stakeholders to provide children and young people with good and successful learning and life opportunities. Together, they create support offerings in the form of, for instance, training sessions, projects, equipment, or events for children, young people, parents, and professionals in schools and daycare centers. Through exchange and connections within the network, synergies and added values are created that a single network participant could not have achieved alone. The collaboration is characterized by appreciation, openness, and a shared interest in the further development of the Oberberg education location.
