Othebach Bridge: Repair work on the bridge caps is imminent On Wednesday, 25/03/2026, the warranty works will begin

Oberbergischer Kreis. The warranty work on the damaged Othebach Bridge on district road 23 in Bergneustadt is imminent: starting Wednesday, March 25, 2026, the bridge caps will be repaired. Before the damaged concrete is completely renewed, the top layer of concrete must first be removed. During this work, the roadway towards Neuenothe will initially be partially closed. However, to maintain traffic in both directions, a traffic light system will be installed. The company carrying out the warranty work expects the measure to be completed by the end of June 2026 at the latest.

The dilapidated Othebach Bridge (built in 1959) had been closed since February 2024. It was demolished in the same month and immediately rebuilt. In addition to a new bridge superstructure (main girders, bridge caps, and deck slab), the two abutments had to be replaced. Furthermore, the asphalt pavement of the roadway in the immediate vicinity was renewed, and the existing curb and drainage systems were rehabilitated.
