Oberwiehl schools take a stand for human dignity and solidarity District supports the campaign "Oberberg moves for a diverse society"

Equipped with colorful scarves and caps bearing the logo “Oberberg moves for a diverse society” and supported by the Municipal Integration Center of the Oberberg District, the children arranged themselves in the shape of a heart. This created an impressive symbol of solidarity, cohesion, and humanity.

During the formation of the "heart," the students were informed that their action was part of a special week: "... the week against racism and for 100% human dignity! This means that many people are currently making a special effort to show that we are all equal and belong together! How do you feel when we stand together like this?" The children then gave a thumbs-up. "Great – and that gives us courage!"

The respective deputy principals of both schools, Angelika Schmalz and Liane Pavlidis, emphasized: “Our schools are places where all children should feel welcome and accepted. The motto 100% human dignity is particularly important to us!”

Children's voices on the reasons behind the initiative

The children also made it clear what they care about. Aaron, a student at GGS, says: “We made the heart because we want to show that all children belong.” 
“All people are equally valuable.”, explains James, a student at FÖS.
“If someone is sad or excluded, we help together.”, says Alexis, student representative at GGS.
“At our school, everyone is allowed to join in.”, adds Lena, a student at FÖS.
“If we are kind, the world becomes a little better.”, says Emily, a student at GGS.

Thus, the heart formation on the schoolyard became a powerful image of what connects the school community: showing attitude and standing up for one another.
