STADTRADELN in the Oberberg District: collect kilometers as a team and protect the climate From May 25 to June 14, 2026, collect cycling kilometers during STADTRADELN in the Oberbergischer Kreis

Everyone who lives, works, is active in a club, or attends a (high) school in the Oberbergischer Kreis can participate and collect cycling kilometers. School teams can also take part in the School Cycling Nordrhein-Westfalen parallel to STADTRADELN, which is linked to the 21-day action period of STADTRADELN locally. Students, parents, and teachers of the respective school can participate.

After registering for the district or for the municipality, participants can create a STADTRADELN team or join a team to take part in the competition.
During the three-week action period, the cycled kilometers are entered into the online cycling calendar or collected via the STADTRADELN app. Alternatively, data collection sheets can be filled out, which are provided by the district and participating municipalities. Participation in STADTRADELN is possible during leisure time, on the way to work, and even on vacation. Every kilometer counts and avoids CO₂. The Oberbergischer Kreis as well as the cities and municipalities warmly invite everyone to join in and cycle:

“I am pleased that the Oberberg District and the 13 cities and municipalities are participating in the STADTRADELN together. Embark on a discovery tour through the Oberberg District by bicycle and explore the multitude of attractive cycling routes in the district, which follow, for example, former railway tracks and are connected via the node point system of the Rheinland cycling region. Collect kilometers in the competition for your team, your city or municipality, as well as the Oberberg District. Every kilometer traveled by bicycle instead of by car avoids CO₂ and thus contributes to climate protection.”

“STADTRADELN is becoming more and more well-known every year, and the training seems to be paying off: After the record year of 2025 with 85,000 cycled kilometers, we are looking forward to STADTRADELN 2026. Starting on Whit Monday, we will pedal hard again. I am pleased that volunteers are also actively supporting this effort. This year, during the first week of STADTRADELN, there will be a Bike Bingo where numbers can be collected at different stations. Here's to good weather and strong calves!”

Raoul Halding-Hoppenheit, Mayor of the City of Gummersbach:

Mario Moritz, Mayor of the Castle City Hückeswagen:
“The STADTRADELN campaign aims to show how much CO₂ and traffic we can save together and also targets us local politicians to better understand the needs of cyclists and improve infrastructure. As a mayor, I enjoy riding my gravel bike to work whenever the sun shines. A shower at the town hall makes starting the day easier, and a child seat for my daughter is in planning. Our trails and reservoirs offer ideal conditions for cycling, and more and more bike paths and protective lanes make everyday routes pleasant despite the inclines. Sebastian Heimes, Mayor of the Municipality of Marienheide:
“The STADTRADELN is becoming increasingly popular in Marienheide. In particular, the kilometers cycled increased significantly again in 2025 compared to the previous year. This shows that cycling - thanks to e-bikes - is in vogue and is also fun in our hilly region. Many have already spoken to me about this year's STADTRADELN, so I am optimistic that together with the cyclists in Marienheide, we will achieve another very strong result.
