The district invites you: Action Days for Care and Rescue in Oberberg Free events for career orientation for migrants and refugees

Oberbergischer Kreis. Following the success of the "Care and Rescue Days in Oberberg" in 2024, the format will take place again this year. On two action days, Thursday, June 18, and Monday, June 22, 2026, interested individuals will gain an initial practical insight into activities in the fields of care and rescue. They will have the opportunity to connect with potential employers from the Oberberg district and learn how to best prepare for an application process. The target group is particularly people with migration or refugee backgrounds who are interested in employment, training, or an internship in care or rescue services.

"Numerous professional sectors, including care and rescue services, currently have a high demand for skilled workers. The Oberberg district provides excellent conditions for entry with its diverse training and further education institutions. The action days offer migrants and refugees the chance to explore these professions in a practical manner," says District Administrator Klaus Grootens.

The event series is organized by the Municipal Integration Center, the Economic Development Office, the Caritas Association for the Oberberg District, and the Academy for Health Economics and Seniors (AGewiS).

The program for the Care and Rescue Days in Oberberg:

Action Day 1, Thursday, 18.06.2026, 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM:
Low-threshold application coaching with Caritas Oberberg: Basics for job interviews, creating and revising application documents

Action Day 2, Monday, 22.06.2026, 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM:
- Mini-fair with care and rescue institutions, opportunity for personal interaction,
networking, and applying
- Practice stations from the fields of care and rescue to try out typical professional activities at the
booths

Both action days will take place at the Innovation Hub Bergisches RheinLand, Steinmüllerallee 7 in 51643 Gummersbach.

Interested individuals can choose to attend both dates or just one action day.

Basic knowledge of German is desirable. If needed, the Municipal Integration Center can arrange language mediation. Participants should indicate the required language when registering in this case.
