“After the very positive response last year, we are testing an expansion of the service this year, with more capacity for citizens. This way, we create a climate-friendly and convenient way to travel from the entire region and strengthen an important recreational destination in the Oberbergischer Kreis,” says District Administrator Klaus Grootens.
“The Bevertalsperre is especially important for young people as a local recreational destination. With the Beverbus, we ensure an attractive and reliable option for leisure and recreation. Many students particularly benefit: With their student ticket, they can use the connection at no additional cost – and independently reach the Bever,” emphasizes Anne Loth, Mayor of the Hanseatic City of Wipperfürth.
Mario Moritz, Mayor of the Castle Town of Hückeswagen: “With the Beverbus, we are specifically improving access to one of our most important leisure and natural sites. This benefits not only passengers – it also eases the parking situation around the Bevertalsperre.”

Fast and affordable travel to the Bevertalsperre
The Beverbus serves the following stops:
Wipperfürth Bus Station, Hochstraße, Stöpgeshof, Beverstraße, Reinshagensbever, Käfernberg, Freizeitparadies Beverblick, Wupperbrücke, and Hückeswagen, Bahnhofstraße.
The stops Reinshagensbever, Käfernberg, and Freizeitparadies Beverblick are located directly at the Bevertalsperre and provide ideal access to the local recreational area.
A valid public transport ticket, such as the Deutschlandticket, is required to ride the Beverbus.
Passengers without a ticket can purchase one on the bus or via the OVAG app. From Wipperfürth Bus Station or Hückeswagen Bahnhofstraße, the trip to the Bever costs 2.90 euros. Children pay 1.30 euros.
Those using the eezy.nrw function in the OVAG app save additionally compared to buying a single ticket: From Hückeswagen to the Bever, it costs only 2.20 euros, and from Wipperfürth, 2.74 euros for adults.
Connections and prices are now available in the timetable information.
Additionally, the Bürgerbus Hückeswagen also travels towards the Bevertalsperre on weekday mornings and on some afternoons.
