The exhibition builds on the great success of the PLAYMOBIL exhibition from 2019. “The response to our PLAYMOBIL exhibition in 2019 was overwhelming. To this day, we are regularly asked whether another exhibition of this format would be feasible. For the 100th anniversary of the museum, we are more than happy to fulfill this wish and once again make history accessible in this special way for our large and small guests,” says Cultural Office and Museum Director Steffen Müller.
The focus of the exhibition is on regional history and stories surrounding Schloss Homburg, with a particular emphasis on the museum.
“The exhibition, which will be shown in the castle as well as in the Orangery and White Cube, is intentionally designed as a family exhibition. While children can playfully immerse themselves in past times, adults can discover new ways to access the history of the Oberberg region,” promises Felix Ammann, Cultural Officer of the Oberberg district.
The exhibition was once again conceptualized and implemented in collaboration with the renowned PLAYMOBIL artist Oliver Schaffer from Hamburg.
The exhibition is kindly supported by the Cultural Foundation Oberberg of the Kreissparkasse Köln.
At the same time, starting from June 17, 2026, the first newly furnished rooms in the castle will be accessible again after renovations with a fundamentally revised collection presentation.
To prepare for the new special exhibition and the completion of the first new rooms in the castle, the museum will be closed to visitors from June 2 to June 15, 2026.
