Insights into the professional world with the "RIMO" of the Oberbergischer Kreis Students informed themselves about the diverse tasks of the district administration

Oberbergischer Kreis. The brightly colored RIMO in front of the district office is an "eye-catcher" and attracted interest from eight students from seven secondary schools in the Oberbergischer Kreis. The emergency services information vehicle is one of four stations where young people can learn about the diverse professional fields within the district administration. „With our motto 'With us, everything runs smoothly - We are versatile', the Oberbergischer Kreis is happy to participate in career exploration to introduce young people to our interesting areas of work and show them the various paths to the right job. 20 specialist departments, almost 100 job profiles, and more than 500 working time models make working at the Oberbergischer Kreis flexible and, above all, future-proof," says District Administrator Klaus Grootens.

Training of specialist personnel in the emergency medical service of the Oberbergischer Kreis

The crew of the RIMO provides information about the qualified patient transport, which is part of the task of the Oberbergischer emergency medical service. During this, the 13-15-year-old students learn a lot about the theoretical and practical training for emergency medical service personnel and the use of state-of-the-art technology to save lives. Under the umbrella of AGewiS, the Oberbergischer Kreis trains emergency medical service personnel at the vocational school for emergency medical services.

Versatile Environmental and Nature Conservation Tasks

The staff of the Environmental Office of the Oberbergischer Kreis introduce interested students to the versatile functions, including as a nature conservation authority and water authority, as well as the tasks carried out under the Immission Control, Waste, and Soil Protection laws. Students learn how the on-call service at the Environmental Office operates and can, for example, try their hand at various sampling activities.

Health Protection

The Health Office also vividly explains its diverse areas of responsibility to the students. The youth gain insights into the work of the public health service and learn how the Health Office contributes to protecting the population's health through counseling, examinations, and numerous measures. Through illustrative examples and interactive activities – including hand hygiene – the importance of the Health Office's work for the well-being of the population becomes clear.

Classic Administrative Work Close to Practice: Task Planning

How administration "works" is something the students learn in the Main Office and the Personnel Office. Many of the predominantly organizational tasks serve internal processes, such as work organization, streamlining, digitizing processes, and task planning.

The joint day concluded with a positive feedback session. The students expressed their gratitude for the diverse insights into the work of the district administration and appreciated the offer to undertake an internship at the Oberbergischer Kreis afterward. For the Oberbergischer Kreis, career field exploration is also a valuable opportunity to inspire young people early on about the varied tasks of administration, provide insights into their own fields of activity, and identify potential future staff. The Oberbergischer Kreis regularly offers such events to support students in their career orientation.
