Great Response to the Action Days for Care and Rescue in the Oberbergischer Kreis More than 60 interested visitors and even an employment contract

Oberbergischer Kreis. Practical and well-networked: The action days for nursing and rescue services reached more than 60 interested visitors with their diverse offerings.
“Numerous professional sectors, including nursing and rescue services, currently have a high demand for skilled workers. At the same time, many people who have migrated or fled to Germany want to start their professional careers at their new place of residence. The Oberbergischer Kreis provides the best conditions for entry with its diverse training and education facilities. The action days specifically offer migrants and refugees the opportunity to get to know professions in these fields,” says District Administrator Klaus Grootens.

Through practical offers, the (potential) professionals gained an impression of the professional activities in nursing and rescue services. They connected with potential employers in the Oberbergischer Kreis at the Innovation Hub Bergisches RheinLand in Gummersbach and received tips for a successful application.

The application training was conducted in cooperation with the Caritasverband für den Oberbergischen Kreis e. V. and was particularly well attended. “This year, the demand was so high that we were able to offer a second group at short notice,” says Tabea Kirchner from the Kommunales Integrationszentrum des Oberbergischen Kreises. With the support of voluntary language mediation, about 30 people were prepared for the application process in the Oberbergischer Kreis.
What was conveyed there could be implemented by the participants just a few days later at a mini-fair. In addition to employers in the health and care sector and representatives of the Jobcenter Oberberg, a special highlight was an ambulance with personnel from the district on site. Participants engaged in conversations with potential employers and were able to submit their application documents.

“In addition to a career orientation internship, job placement was also successful, which of course makes us very happy and highlights the relevance of the event,” reports Tabea Kirchner.
The event series has been organized since 2024 by the Municipal Integration Center, the Economic Development of the Oberbergischer Kreis, and the Academy for Health Economics and Seniors (AGewiS). The application coaching was conducted in cooperation with the Caritas Association for the Oberbergischer Kreis e.V.
