Oberbergischer Kreis. In Bergneustadt, several areas for the use of wind energy have been designated as part of the "Objective Subplan Renewable Energies of the Regional Plan." This was decided by the Regional Council of the Cologne Government District. This fundamentally allows for the possibility of erecting wind turbines within these areas, provided the necessary legal requirements are met.

In addition to a designated area in Sülemicke, between the districts of Wiedenest – Pernze – Belmicke – Attenbach – Wörde, three areas around Beulberg have been identified. A part of these areas on Beulberg is privately owned, over which the town of Bergneustadt and the Oberbergischer Kreis have no direct influence. At the same time, plots of land required for the construction and operation of wind turbines may be owned by the Oberbergischer Kreis. For these areas, the question arises as to whether and under what conditions they could be made available for the use of wind turbines in the future.

Additionally, the town of Bergneustadt could initiate a planning process to create the legal conditions for the construction of another wind turbine.

Against this background, the Oberbergischer Kreis and the town of Bergneustadt are currently examining whether an informal citizen survey on the topic of wind energy in Bergneustadt can be conducted. A decision has not yet been made. The relevant political committees of the district and the town will address the topic in September and discuss the next steps.
