Extreme heat in the Oberbergischer Kreis: District Administrator thanks all deployed forces Coordinated emergency readiness in rescue services and hospitals.

Oberbergischer Kreis. The ongoing extraordinary heatwave with temperatures exceeding the 40-degree mark is also posing significant challenges to healthcare services in the Oberbergischer Kreis. To be prepared for potential further strains, the Oberbergischer Kreis is in close communication with its emergency services, fire brigades, aid organizations, and hospitals. The operational structures were aligned early on to ensure quick and coordinated responses at all times.

Klaus Grootens, district administrator of the Oberbergischer Kreis, explicitly thanks everyone involved for their efforts under extreme conditions:

“While many citizens in the Oberbergischer Kreis are enjoying the beautiful weather or are mainly dealing with the extreme heat these days, numerous full-time and volunteer forces in emergency services and aid organizations are working under extraordinarily challenging conditions.

Given the strained situation in the hospitals in the Oberbergischer Kreis, the emergency forces coordinated early on and are prepared to react quickly if needed and counteract any potential further escalation of the situation. Experiences from other regions show how important close coordination and proactive planning are in such situations. We are precisely prepared for that. We actively support the hospitals and are well-prepared for an increased deployment workload, particularly during the evening hours.

My explicit and heartfelt thanks go to all emergency service personnel, fire brigades, and aid organizations, as well as our district fire chief Julian Seeger and the members of the operations management and control center at the emergency center of the Oberbergischer Kreis, who coordinate and manage in the background with high responsibility.

I also extend my sincere thanks to the caregivers and all medical staff in our hospitals, medical practices, and care facilities. They have been delivering outstanding work under exceptionally high temperatures for days under sometimes extreme conditions.

Three consecutive days with temperatures around 40 degrees in this form have not been experienced before in the Oberbergischer Kreis. This is an extraordinary situation that presents unique challenges to the entire region. All the more deserving of the highest recognition is the effort of everyone involved. They all contribute to ensuring the best possible medical care and safety for the population at all times.”
