General Information on Emission Control

The Lower Emission Control Authority is responsible for enforcing the Federal Emission Control Act (BImSchG) and the State Emission Control Act (LImschG) as well as numerous regulations based on these laws. The goal of emission control is to avoid or reduce significant disadvantages, dangers, and considerable nuisances caused by emissions such as noise, air pollution, vibrations, and similar environmental impacts from industrial facilities to an acceptable level. Protection from these impacts primarily serves people and animals, but plants, soil, water, and the atmosphere, as well as property, should also be protected.

"Emission control" encompasses all efforts aimed at ensuring the protection of humans, animals, plants, soil, water, the atmosphere, as well as cultural and other property from harmful environmental impacts and preventing the emergence of such harmful impacts.
