Vehicle Registration for Minors

Case 1: Driving license available

The minor possesses the required driving license for the vehicle and can therefore fulfill the ownership characteristics. However, they are not yet fully legally competent. For the vehicle registration, the minor must personally appear together with a parent at the road traffic office.

In addition to the normal registration documents, the following are required:

• Driving license of the minor for the vehicle class

• Written consent and identity card of a legal guardian

• If the minor is unable to appear: Declaration of consent (signature) in the "Written Consent" form of the minor

• If the parents/legal guardians are unable to appear, they can authorize an adult or a registration service. Please additionally complete the specific power of attorney for registration by third parties for a minor.

Case 2: Severe disability

The minor fulfills the requirements of § 3a Motor Vehicle Tax Act due to a severe disability. The customs office decides on the tax reduction or tax exemption.

In addition to the normal registration documents, the following are required:

• Severely disabled person's ID

• Identity card of a legal guardian

• In case of reduced motor vehicle tax rate SEPA direct debit mandate
