Registration of a used vehicle with German papers (= transfer)

Case 1:  Vehicle – Registration of used vehicle with German documents (= re-registration)

The vehicle was or is registered to another owner in Germany.
You want to re-register it in your name.
For a registered vehicle, you can keep or change the existing license plate.

Required documents

• Registration certificate Part I (ZB I / Vehicle registration)

• Registration certificate Part II (ZB II / Vehicle title)

• TÜV certificate

• ID card

• Electronic insurance confirmation – eVB code

• SEPA direct debit mandate

• License plates – only for registered vehicles if the license plate is changing
   

Case 2:  Vehicle – Address change after moving from another district (= re-registration!)

You moved from another district to the Oberbergischer Kreis.
Your vehicle must be registered here, i.e., re-registered.
You can keep or change your existing license plate.

Case 2a: License plate remains
Required documents

• Registration certificate Part I (ZB I / Vehicle registration) with valid TÜV

• ID card

• Electronic insurance confirmation – eVB code with the new address
   

Case 2b: License plate is changing
Required documents

• Registration certificate Part I (ZB I / Vehicle registration) with valid TÜV

• Registration certificate Part II (ZB II / Vehicle title)

• ID card

• Electronic insurance confirmation – eVB code with the new address

• SEPA direct debit mandate (if new bank details)

• License plates
