The Oberbergischer Kreis is committed to maintaining the 52 district roads entrusted to it, with a total length of around 208 kilometers, in good and appropriate condition. These roads form the backbone of a functioning infrastructure and are essential for mobility throughout the district. Within the financial means of the district, continuous measures are taken to ensure traffic safety and road quality.

Please note: Minor road disruptions carried out on behalf of utility companies for cable laying or repairs, which are usually of limited scope and managed with traffic lights, are not included here.

To ensure the quality of district roads, construction work is often required on several sections simultaneously. These works are carried out by specialized professional firms operating on behalf of the district. Due to limited space, road closures are often unavoidable. These closures are necessary to ensure the safety of both the workers and road users. The Oberbergischer Kreis strives to keep the duration of disruptions as short as possible.

Special consideration is given to school traffic. Therefore, many projects take place during vacation periods. Night work on construction sites remains an exception as it is associated with noise pollution, higher costs, and poorer working conditions.
