Administrative Procedure

For the initial issuance or renewal of your hunting license, please address your written application, freely formulated, to the Lower Hunting Authority (UJB). Applications for renewal can be submitted starting in November. Please attach a copy of your ID card to your application. You can use the email inbox jagdschein@obk.de for submitting your application.

Before the initial issuance or renewal of a hunting license, the UJB checks the personal reliability and suitability of the applicants with the firearms authority. This authority is structured within the administrative organization of the Oberbergischer Kreis at the district police authority.

In this early stage of application submission, we do not yet require your valid hunting license. Your personal appearance at the UJB is no longer mandatory.

Once the UJB has received the clearance certificate regarding your person from the firearms authority, they will notify you, requesting the submission of the remaining original documents such as your hunting license and proof of sufficient hunting liability insurance.

Until this point is reached, there may be a longer processing time. Please refrain from inquiries about the status of your application.

To continue offering the previous service of online appointments for hunters, the UJB provides an online appointment system for customers who have been requested to complete their application documents. A corresponding appointment can be booked online via the link here online. If the personnel and time conditions for immediate renewal are met, your hunting license will be renewed during the online-arranged appointment.

If you decide to submit the missing documents to the UJB by mail, we will gladly return your hunting license by mail along with an invoice after processing.

The documents required for the application are

• ID card

• Valid insurance confirmation for submission to the UJB for the
  desired validity period of the hunting license (no contract or premium invoice!)

• For first issuance: Hunter examination certificate, passport photo

• For renewal: Previous hunting license, if applicable, passport photo
