Educational Network Oberberg: Produce Podcasts and Video Clips Professionally with Ease Social Media Scouts train with the Media Box NRW - Press release from the Educational Network Oberberg

Oberbergischer Kreis. The Oberberg Media Initiative (OMI) hosted a specialist day together with the State Media Authority (LfM) focusing on the “Media Box NRW”. This event offered more than 40 students from seven secondary schools in the Oberberg district hands-on insights into media production. The “Media Box NRW” is a free program by the State Media Authority (LfM) that provides young people with fundamental knowledge of media production. The aim is to empower them to independently create professional videos or podcasts with simple tools. In addition to online learning modules, practical on-site courses are offered by qualified coaches, who were invited by the OMI to the specialist day in the Oberberg district. The event took place at the AGewiS premises in Gummersbach.

Creating Podcasts and One-Shot Videos
Social Media Scouts from different secondary schools learned not only how to create professional podcasts using a smartphone, but also received tips and tricks on hosting. Particularly impressive were the 90-second One-Shot Videos created on-site, filmed in a single take without editing.

The students worked enthusiastically and presented creative, skillfully convincing results. The teachers also familiarized themselves with the tools of the „Medienbox NRW“.

„We sincerely thank the State Media Authority for this great offer. It complements the OMI concept ideally by providing the Social Media Scouts with valuable tools for their own contributions as well as for informing their fellow students about digital topics. The specialist day is another building block of the OMI within the framework of the Oberberg Education Network and supports schools in responsibly handling digital media,“ says Katja van Wickeren, educational staff member at the Education Office of the Oberberg District and part of the OMI steering group.

Oberberg Media Initiative
The Oberberg Media Initiative (OMI) is a joint project of the Education Office Oberberg, the School Psychological Service of the Oberberg District, the District Police Authority of the Oberberg District/ Department of Crime Prevention/ Victim Protection, and the Youth Welfare Office of the Oberberg District in collaboration with network partners (Diakonie Addiction Support Office – Addiction Help OBK North, Dietrich-Bonhoeffer-Gymnasium Wiehl). The focus is on media education within the Oberberg Education Network.

If photos for download are provided exclusively for media representatives/press, all usage rights (cf. §§ 31 ff. UrhG) according to § 43 UrhG lie with the Oberbergischer Kreis. For reporting purposes, the media are granted a simple usage right according to § 31 Abs. 2 UrhG.
