Nursing routine of the future: AGewiS organizes project day "DigitalDay Care" "DigitalDay Care" for around 100 trainees connects training theory with the digital nursing routine
Oberbergischer Kreis. Voice control instead of pen and paper, AI at the bedside instead of analog routines: Because digitization is fundamentally changing nursing, the AGewiS is preparing its 120 trainees for precisely this future. A new training program, the "DigitalDay Care," teaches how artificial intelligence and digital tools will help provide better care for people in the future.
"Digitization has long been an established cross-cutting theme in nursing education. But there is often still a gap between curriculum and practice. The 'DigitalDay Care' bridges exactly this gap: with a format that doesn't lecture, but inspires – and turns our trainees at AGewiS into competent, confident professionals in the digital nursing field of tomorrow," says District Administrator Klaus Grootens.
Voice-controlled documentation, AI-supported wound care, digital cognitive training – technologies that may still sound futuristic elsewhere become tangible, testable, and understandable at AGewiS.
Nursing of tomorrow - digital and innovative
"The 'DigitalDay Care' gives our second-year nursing students the opportunity not just to discuss the digital nursing routine, but to experience it for themselves. This project day builds a bridge between training theory and the digital nursing of tomorrow," says Academy Director Nicole Meyer.
At the opening, two speakers provided information about "Opportunities and limitations of AI in nursing" and questioned "how digital is the nursing sector?". A subsequent live presentation demonstrated how voice-controlled nursing documentation and AI-supported wound documentation function in everyday nursing practice. Afterward, the trainees participated in an interactive program across four thematic stations: Digital and voice-controlled nursing documentation, Mobility check and fall detection, Digital self-care and health management, as well as Cognitive training and activation.
Each group completed all four modules, learning what digital technology can already achieve in nursing today. The day concluded with a look at how nursing will be shaped in the near future, supported by the lecture "Digitization and AI in Nursing – Where is the journey heading?"
Experienced partners, strong network
The DigitalDay Care is made possible through close collaboration with Thomas Hilse (HILSE:Konzept) and Carolin Pauly (Institute for Universal Design) – two recognized experts who bring their passion for digital nursing solutions and user-centered design to the day. Both were enthusiastic about how creative and diverse the trainees were in translating digital offerings into nursing practice.
