Art in Dialogue: Studio Visit with David Uessem Volkshochschule Oberberg and the Cultural Office of the Oberberg District invite you to a new event series.

Oberberg District. Following the successful art walks in 2024 and 2025, the Oberberg Adult Education Center (Volkshochschule Oberberg) and the Cultural Office of the Oberberg District are continuing their engagement with contemporary art. In autumn 2026, the new event series "Art in Dialogue" will commence. The events create space for personal encounters between artists and art enthusiasts, providing the opportunity not just to view art but to discover, discuss, and reflect on it together. The focus is not solely on the finished works. The paths, ideas, and questions behind their creation also become topics of conversation. Various artistic forms of expression and individual perspectives illustrate the diversity of the art landscape in Oberberg.

With this series, the Volkshochschule Oberberg and the Cultural Office of the Oberberg District aim to highlight the dialogue about art in the region and provide direct access to the artists working there.

In a total of four events, artists from Oberberg will open their studios and offer insights into their works, ideas, and artistic perspectives. The series takes participants to various municipalities in Oberberg, making the diversity of the regional art scene directly tangible.

On Thursday, October 15, 2026, the series will kick off with a studio visit to David Uessem in Gummersbach-Berghausen, an internationally renowned artist from Oberberg. The studio visit provides the opportunity to talk with him about his works, his creative process, and his perspectives on art. David Uessem is known for his versatile and expressive works, and his painterly art often combines abstract forms, colors, and materials into a unique visual language. Portraits play a central role in his work. With his innovative style, he has made a distinctive name for himself in the contemporary art scene.
