On Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, the Leppe Recycling Center in Lindlar will open its doors for the last time this year for the Christmas Swap Event - a special exchange and giveaway market. The goal is to give well-preserved items a second life while bringing joy to others.
In advance, citizens are warmly invited to drop off suitable items at the Leppe Recycling Center during regular opening hours. Sought after are well-preserved items related to Christmas and the cold season – such as Christmas decorations, string lights, board games, or other beautiful and still fully functional items. As is customary with the Bergisch Swap Event, the rule applies: Items accepted are those that can be carried by one person and are in such good condition that they could be gifted to a best friend in good conscience. Clothing and shoes are excluded from acceptance.
The more beautiful items are handed in, the more diverse the offerings will be at the Christmas Swap Event. The BAV Zero Waste Club therefore calls on everyone to search through basements, attics, and closets to donate well-preserved treasures instead of letting them go unused or throwing them away.
On the event day itself, visitors can browse to their heart's content and take items for free. Additional drop-offs are also possible on this day.
With the Christmas Swap Event, the BAV Zero Waste Club aims to show how simple it can be to avoid waste in everyday life. By passing on and reusing items, products stay in circulation longer, and resources are conserved.
After the winter break, the Bergisch Swap Event will continue: Starting in March 2027, events will once again be held at the municipal BAV recycling centers.
