You can search for childcare options without registering and view them. You only need to register if you want to use the following features:

• Submit childcare requests

• Save searches

• Bookmark facilities

• Save data for further childcare requests

Track the status of childcare requests     

You can select various filters in the search mask on the homepage.         The following filters are available:

• Suitable for age and start of care

• Name of a specific facility

• Search by radius

• Offers in the school district

• All offers in a municipality

You can refine your search further as you proceed.
 

You have the option to create a favorites list of childcare facilities that interest you. To add a facility to the favorites list, please log in and select “Bookmark facility” under the respective facility.

Please note: The favorites list is only a personal reminder and does not replace a childcare request!

To submit a childcare request, you must be registered and logged in.

Click on the corresponding facility either from the results list or in the portal profile "Create childcare request." You will then be directed to an input form to provide your details.

Please fill in all fields marked with an asterisk *. These are mandatory and essential for a successful childcare request.

Finally, select "Submit request" to send your data to the respective facility. You can save your provided information for future childcare requests.
 

Daycare facilities offer families various care times. Depending on the offer of the desired daycare facility, you can choose weekly care times of 25, 35, or 45 hours.

You will discuss the care time for your child individually with the management or the day care person during the admission to a daycare facility.
 

You are welcome to register and sign up with LITTLE BIRD. Please enter your current residential address during registration.

If you live outside the jurisdiction of the district youth office, we require provisional proof of your move to one of the aforementioned municipalities. This can be, for example, a rental agreement or a purchase contract for a self-used property.

If one of your children is already being cared for in a facility and you would like to have another child cared for there as well, you can indicate this in the care request. Please mark the additional child in the request as a sibling.

Siblings are usually given priority in placement decisions. However, placement depends on other factors such as available spaces, age structure, and more.      

If you are submitting care requests for multiple children, such as twins or triplets, please create a separate request for each child, using their respective names.

As each child requires their own spot, a separate care request must be submitted for each child.      

Yes, you can withdraw a care request using the red x-symbol.

It is necessary to specify the reason for the withdrawal. You can select the reason from a menu.
 

The kindergarten year begins on August 1 of each year. Registration should be completed by August of the previous year at the latest.

Please refer to the respective portal profiles for admission criteria for facilities under independent sponsorship.

Yes, if you have joint custody, both custodians must be listed.

If you have sole custody, you do not need to specify additional contract partners.

Your care request will be forwarded to the facility you selected.

If the facility places your care request on the waiting list, you will be notified by letter or email. An invitation for a personal introduction will be sent separately, if applicable.    

Yes, a pre-registration is a non-binding childcare request that helps plan the anticipated need for spots in the facility.

There is no legal entitlement to the pre-registered childcare spot in a specific facility.  

If childcare requests are declined, you have the option to submit additional childcare requests to other facilities. In total, you can manage up to five active childcare requests per kindergarten year on your profile.

If urgent childcare is needed with a lead time of one to six months, you should contact the district youth office (Tel.: 02261/88-5298).

You will receive a placement offer no earlier than 12 months before the start of childcare.  

Please send us an email if you have already accepted a placement offer but do not wish to accept it. In the email, please provide the name and date of birth of the child as well as the name of the facility.

To avoid misunderstandings, it is recommended to also contact the facility management.    
 

A reservation is only considered a change request if your child has an existing contract in the jurisdiction of the district youth office in the LITTLE BIRD system at the desired start of care.

If your child attends a daycare facility in another municipality, the care request is not considered a change request.      

If you wish your child to attend a daycare center following their time in day care, you can register again through the parent portal. If you have already submitted childcare requests with start dates within the current day care period, these requests will no longer be visible to facility managers due to system limitations. In such cases, please submit new childcare requests through our parent portal.
